A Birdwatching Day

On Feb 6, Wednesday, at 8:15 AM, we went birdwatching at a friend's house. It was an absolutely AMAZING experience. I'll share some pictures now...

Here are all of us watching out of the window...(that's where we saw the birds)

It had snowed overnight, so outside was beautiful!!!

I think snow on trees in the sunlight is just glorious, don't you?

they had a huge garden, with a river at the bottom!!!

Here's David...

Everything looked so pretty in the sun.....

More snow on trees and bushes...

I love snowdrops too...I couldn't resist!!

Then we started to see some birds...

Here is a male siskin,

Here's a robin,

Here's another male siskin,

Here's a mistlethrush

And these look like two female siskins (the males have black on their heads, but the females don't)

Here's the mistlethrush again,

Look at all the siskins!!!

This is what we saw out of the window.

Here is a tiny coal tit:

Then we started seeing bullfinches. This is a female - males have more reddish coloring on their fronts.

We even saw a songthrush!!!!!

Here's a male bullfinch! Notice the bright red coloring on his front..

Here's another male bullfinch next to..what is it?? I can't figure out what kind of bird is next to him..maybe a female bullfinch?? Or a long-tailed tit...can you figure it out?

This male siskin looked amazingly bright yellow in the sunlight..

Here are a male bullfinch and a robin picking up the remnants of the seeds that the siskins have dropped down...did you know that siskins have such tiny beaks that they can only eat the tip of a sunflower seed? They drop the rest down!!

Left to right:
Male blackbird, female blackbird.

I love bullfinches :)

Here are some videos now...

As we drove home, I got this lovely picture of these yellow crocuses - They're almost the same color as the siskins!!!

And some cool pictures of the snow in our garden!!!

Anyway,
it was a very fun day ;)
